Toronto-based rapper and singer Nue releases the surefire hit single “Demon Child” from his forthcoming full length album Playground due in 2022 on Wax Records and Republic Records (UMG Worldwide). The song’s title and subject matter has nothing to do with Nue being persistently tormenting, but rather is about an artist utilizing a creative outlet like music to express himself in a raw and uncompromising way, over some fluttering guitar strums and more memorable beats.
“My life inspired the song. It’s just really, really honest. I was going through a lot at the time with relationships,” explains Nue, the former first and only Canadian artist to sign with 300 Entertainment (Migos, Young Thug), who has collaborated with Pressa and toured with Fetty Wap. “It’s really proud and unapologetic. I felt very misunderstood and I just didn’t really care about opinions. I more so was embracing things said or thought about me, even if not true. Unintentionally I think I was trying to just let it all out there and give the listener comfort in my unfiltered self-deprecation.” Despite having only released one album prior, Nue has already been featured on XXL’s “15 New Artists You Should Know”, Complex / Pigeon and Planes’ “13 Rising Artists You Should Know”, with Paper Mag dubbing him “the Toronto rapper to keep your radar on”.
