Inspired by the drill sound coming from across the pond, J Lyles gives his own twist on the genre with the DonBoy Beatz produced “Chizz Lullaby”. Backed by the already hard hitting beat, J Lyles puts his roots on the map, dedicating the song to his hometown of Chesilhurst, New Jersey. With a vicious flow and beat, you would think the artist isn’t speaking on what he is speaking of, yet he is able to blend his lyricism and the drill genre to create his latest single.
“This drill inspired song is a dedication to my hometown of Chesilhurst, NJ. I talk about early struggles such as my father and family members going to prison, uplifting my friends and community and shouting out all the people that got me to where I am today. Creating this song, I wanted to bring people into my world and feel like they were right in “The Chizz” with me.” says J Lyles about the background of “Chizz Lullaby”. The single may tell parts of the artists life, but it is something many souls can relate to. Even if one can’t relate to the topic at hand, the artist was able to create such a vibe that the listener will gravitate to the track either way. That is the beauty of creating art, speaking on truths or certain topics but still being able to play it loud and feel motivated by the outcome.
We’ve had the track on repeat since being introduced to “Chizz Lullaby”, part of that is due to the lyricism and bars J Lyles drops on the track. “Never sip lean can’t be movin like snails/and I took losses but that didn’t kill my ambition” spits the artist later adding “Before I talk, make sure I always listen/cause everybody not cut from that tissue/cause now a days man they’ll try to lynch you, its that simple/built from the outline like a stencil/knowing certain people not going with you & when you gone who really gonna miss you/only got a few brothers that’s official”. Bars after bars is what the New Jersey native brings to the table and it is nothing but fire. You can stream the single below via Spotify and SoundCloud, don’t forget to give the artist a follow on social media either.
