With his name being steadily published on the site with recent single releases and videos like “Grind Hard” and “Back 2 Back“, Steadee is back on Be Known with his album You Could’ve Been Here. The DMV native continues to trend upwards in the independent music scene, keeping his foot on necks and the pressure applied as he gives avid listeners a stellar album that can be played from front to back.
Steadee keeps it real and honest throughout the album no matter the topic he decides to rhyme about, whether it’s over his work ethic in “Grind Hard” or the females who want his attention but he hardly pays no mind to because he’s about his bag on “Show Stopper”. The artist wears his heart on his sleeve especially when asked about the title of the project saying “I chose the title because I felt like it was a clear message to the people that were around before the album that changed up or didn’t have my best interest during the process that doubted”. Smokey Garvin, Ayyee Luv and WestsideJC didn’t doubt that process as all three are featured on You Could’ve Been Here with Garvin also assisting on the production side of things as well. The Smokey Garvin and Ayyee Luv features are no surprise as they have become frequent collaborators of Steadee, forming a tight bond through their art and the place they all call home, that being the DMV. Ceez, NeckMusik & K’Wahn Soprano also provide their instrumentals helping give the project that smooth crisp sound you hear when you hit that play button.
Mixing his raps and his ear for smooth production, Steadee gives us some player music to vibe to as we go about our day to days. From tracks like “Day in the Bay”, “Playas Lounge” and “Macking With Ease”, Steadee solidifies that player music statement as he gains inspiration from other artists like Curren$y, Le$ and Larry June. All three tend to create a similar vibe that Steadee was aiming for on You Could’ve Been Here but he still implements his own style as well within the project. “I was mainly by myself and just sent the files out to the featured artists. I can record with other people in the studio but I prefer to record solo so I can actually vibe out, leave it alone & do something else then come back to finish it off” says the artist when asked about the recording sessions for the album. He adds “I took my time with the project and I started to record around Thanksgiving of last year and over time I just kept adding songs along the way up until the original release date of 7/9. Since thing’s couldn’t happen that way I had to pick a later date”.
No matter the release date, You Could’ve Been Here was set to do numbers because of the sound, time and effort Steadee put into the set of sounds and that hard work is paying off. The album is paving it’s way into music libraries around the net with over 2.3K combined streams on Apple Music and Spotify, with more surely to come as the release continues to be played from sun up to sun down. You can stream all 9 tracks below via Spotify/Apple Music or find it making waves on all other streaming platforms as well. Don’t forget to tap in with Steadee on Twitter and Instagram @HeSoSteadee
